The Beginning
It all begins with an idea.
A few years ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do in life, I wasn’t sure about going to college, and I sure as heck wasn’t sure about what career path I wanted to take. With everyone pressuring me to pick something, I was ready to just settle for something I would never be happy with. But, one day, that all changed, a little thing called Forestry fell into my lap. I was excited to explore this area of study, and man, I am sure glad I did. Forestry has been the best decision I have ever made.
After deciding on forestry, I decided to go to school. I dare say it was not even close to easy, but it was well worth it. For a while, I still wasn’t sure what I was going to do with such a degree. Park Service? Nah. Forester? Not interested. Environmental Education? Now we’re talking. I soon realized that environmental education would be my passion. After working with some nonprofits and trying hopelessly to get into the forest service, I finally decided to just do my own thing; that way, I make my own rules.
So yes, I am a Forester with a passion for educating people, and a deep-rooted Appalachian culture tied to my name. Growing up in these mountains was an adventure on its own, and I am super excited to get to share my passion and life with new, exciting people!
